These houses were built about 400 years ago in EDO era.
Old houses and nice atomospher are attracting many travellers every year.
You should eat Japanese soba noodle there with a Japanese leek in stead of chopsticks.

It's rainy season now, good for the flowers.

Take Chichibu line to Mitsumine Station.
Getj off there,
Start treckking toward the top of Mt.Mitake.
The route of clibming down is the way to OOtaki Onsen (hot spring).
Bathing in the hot spring there, take the bus to Mitsumine station.

This Owaku-dani is a volcanic valley and famous for the resource of hot springs in Hakone resort area.

A snail and a butterfly

Indian Fritillary.
Their habitation area used to be in temperate countries but you can find them here.
The caterpillars of this butterflies eat the flowers in many gardens.

Skunk cabbage

Precisely,this is not a skunk cabbage but a off-spring of a skunk cabbage (large one).
"Hime-zazen-so" is the Japanese name for this flower.
 Hime means "a princes. In this case, it stands for "little", I think.
"Zazen" is "zen-sitting" and "so" is a monk.
Totally, "a little zen monk sitting in a spathe" is the name for this flower.
This flower grows in wet area.
